Well are you going to put down your phone today? If you don’t have a problem with your phone that’s great! But others may say you do.
Take a day and start recognizing how many times you pick it up to search the internet, or search pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, snapchat, Instagram. When I did this, it was amazing how many times I caught myself picking it up. I didn’t think I had a problem…I did.
And then I started noticing my family!
Yup! They have the same problem!
I noticed that anytime we were all home together EVERYONE would be on their electronic. How did this happen? Crazy how it just creeps up on you and suddenly you’ve gone from answering your phone and posting a quick post weekly, to posting every single thought or event! I am so guilty of this too! It’s so easy because most of us (including myself) use our phones to take all of our pictures. And that’s not what I’m talking about.
I’m talking about this:
Just aimlessly reading twitter feed, or Facebook feed.
I’m talking about myself too! No offense but why are we putting those feeds before our family? Yes I love reading my news feed on Facebook! I love seeing all of my friends and family’s happy moments. I love seeing all of the pictures. But should I love it all while I’m sitting around visiting with my family? Good stuff, bad timing.
Dinner time…SAME THING! EVERYONE has their phones, iPads,iPods, kindles….I’m saying ENOUGH! Just because we are sitting together doesn’t mean we are all engaged and present in the moment.
If I want to see a change in my family then I need to change myself first!
Im trying to only use my phone for phone calls, a quick text and limit my time on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest. It’s really not that hard once you are aware. I try to only go on social media when my family is busy or outside playing, or just when I get a chance to take five minutes for myself. A phone diet! Lol
Look what I made to help my family (baby steps) during dinner.
I LOVE this!
It’s just an old tray that I painted with chalk paint! You could use a large jar or a basket instead. Hope you try it!
