Celebrating Easter has always been such a favorite holiday. I can remember from such an early age getting all dressed up in a fancy dress with a bonnet & white gloves, a white purse, white socks & shoes…not sure if I remember or just think I remember from pictures. Easter eggs and Easter baskets were always part of the tradition. A big dinner at Papoo’s & Yia Yia’s house with all of my cousins. Such fun times. Family. Nothing like it. I sure miss those days.
I don’t have many pictures from when I was young. Out of the few that I have this is one of my favorites. My brother Toby, me & my sister Suzette.
Easter is still a time of fun & tradition with my kids. I always hide the Easter baskets, & have Easter egg hunts, get the kids all decked out in their new digs for Easter Sunday… we don’t have a Yia Yia & Papoo tradition with my kiddos but someday I hope Steve & I get to be the Yia Yia & Papoo (or as he called his dutch grandparents Opa & Oma.) for our grandkids.
But besides the fun & traditions, Easter is a time for Christians when we remember Christ dying on the cross for our sins. “It is finished” John 19:30. Such a powerful verse. The work is finished on the cross. Jesus suffered for my sins there. There is nothing for me to do. “He is risen.” Matthew 28:6. He was dead but then he arose. He is alive & my Saviour lives.
Although Easter is not a small holiday in meaning, I don’t like to get crazy with a ton of decorations. Just a light sprinkle of some cute bunnies & eggs. I found some adorable little ceramic bunnies my kids tried to paint a few years ago. They didn’t turn out so hot. They pretty much turned out an icky brown because all of the paint mixing. So I took those and sprayed them white. So adorable.
A few years ago I had decoupaged a bunch of plastic Easter eggs with various scrap paper. I still love how these look. I put them in a large glass jar. And it just adds a little bit of Easter in my sunroom.
My Easter banner. This is super cute. Although I do wish the letters were a bit darker. Hard to read in the bright sunlight. It says Easter.
I found these glittered bunnies at the dollar store this year. I also found these little eggs on sticks. Perfect for just adding a little sprinkle of Easter in a room.
Hope everyone has a Happy Easter and gets to enjoy the weekend with friends & family.
