Farming-off to a great start after being rained out

What a rainy start to the season.  This is the second day Steve’s been able to get into the field for Spring planting.  Roughly April 15th is when they start planting.  Here it’s May 5th & only on their second farm.  Getting behind schedule is very hard on these poor guys.

My rig for the day.

Steve needed my help bringing out seed corn to where he is planting.  I was on standby all morning.  Waiting & waiting for him to call.  I decided that I would just put Maggie down for a nap.  Sure enough she was asleep 10 minutes & he called.  Farming…gotta just roll with it. Very rarely does he need my help so I thought I better not complain about a tired a baby. :)  Plus I really do like “helping” in my own little way.  Even if it’s just driving out seed.

I get to the farm where he is planting & I’m getting close to the drive way to pull in.  Steve comes on the radio & says “watch out for that driveway it’s really narrow”.  Oh boy, blood pressure shoots up.  I get so nervous I’m going to run something into the ditch.  Took it slow & made it.  Wooo Whoooo.

You can take the girl out of the city but you can’t take the city out of the girl.  I forgot to pull out my “work” boots.  I got them years ago.  I got tired of wearing all of my nice shoes out to the field.  When Steve & I first got married, I would be out there in my nice wedge sandals.  What a mess.  My poor shoes.
