I love brightening up my home with fresh cut flowers from outside. Nothing smells better than the beautiful scent of lilacs. Always blooming in the very beginning of the season for just a very short time.
Sometimes it’s hard to catch these before they are finished blooming. I know of two spots that I can cut these from around here. I’m not sure who owns the property but there are no houses around so I figure “why not?”
I don’t often beat my sister in law at cutting them. She usually gets to them first but is always so generous of her to share. She got them this year.
I remember one of the first times I went and cut some out of one of the spots, I was so scared someone would drive up and be mad that I was doing that. So I was hurrying as fast as I could, and out of nowhere a huge dog came barking towards me….(Ok I’m FREAKED out by dogs that I don’t know) plus I was already a little nervous of getting caught…I about jumped out of my skin…went running to my truck and lost my flip flop. Haha….oh so funny.
I try to spread these out all over my house. I love how the scent completely fills up each room that they are in.
My sitting room aka Maggie’s play room.
I even put some in my bathrooms. I think they look beautiful in my white milk vases. They are my favorite kind of fresh flower vases.
I have a few of these beautiful lilac bushes planted on MY OWN property but they are still very young and don’t produce enough yet. Maybe in the next few years they will hopefully get bigger.
Try to get some before they are done blooming. You won’t regret it. They look and smell amazing.
